I was looking for somewhere special to look after Maxi . Most days she's sitting under my desk and despite being blind and diabetic she still manages to follow me around with amazing accuracy.  We also have a lively young cocker who is also a Mad Max office hound, but is much livelier and needs a lot of stimulation. The challenge was to find somewhere that could meet both their needs.

Finding Bath country pets was a revelation.  The founders are Neil and Emma who live in a lovely Cotswold farmhouse 6 miles from the gorgeous city of Bath.  You can just feel that there life is very much about their children and their animals, creating a positive and healthy environment in which they  can all  flourish.  Dogs are a part of their family and were the inspiration for setting up this business.

Emma explained the vision for Bath Country pets….

“We felt that there was something missing for people with canine pets, who would not feel comfortable leaving them in a traditional kennel environment. So, we set about creating the perfect place for dogs to stay.

We think our hotel for dogs is unique and we’ve taken the time to make sure that it oozes rural charm and homely comfort.  There are four acres of gardens and meadows to enjoy, with fun and games and lots of attention on offer.

Individual bedrooms, each named after a famous Bath landmark, are airy, spacious and clean with soft, naturally hypoallergenic and anti-microbial sheep’s wool-stuffed beds and a selection of well-designed and stimulating toys. Wood fuelled under-floor heating ensures that dogs will be warm and comfortable in winter, and our natural sheep’s wool insulation keeps the building cool in warmer weather.

Our cosy guest lounge features a wood burning stove/cooker, kitchen area, seating and tables for our guests’ owners to enjoy a hot drink and socialise with other dog owners and their pets. Eventually this room will be used to host talks, seminars and other dog-related events.

We strongly believe in making each day for our canine guests different, rewarding and fun.  We go on ‘excursion walks’ in the lovely surrounding Cotswold countryside and we offer a well-balanced and nutritious diet, featuring natural organic foods and carbon-filtered water.”

This lovely place really does live up to expectations! So, if you have booked a tour with us, or you’re a local resident, you don’t need to feel guilty about leaving behind your four-legged companions.  Treat them to a day at Bath Country Pets, while you have a great day out, safe in the knowledge that they will be enjoying an equally enriching experience.

Now when I get close to Bath Country pets, the level of excitement in the car gets to fever pitch - it makes me very happy!
