Lacock National Trust Village

Lacock is an unspoilt  National Trust village on the edge of the Cotswolds and appears as if trapped in time.

There has been no major construction here for the last 200 years. Most buildings date from the 13th to 18th centuries.

It has featured in many films and historical dramas including

  • Downton Abbey,
  • Harry Potter and
  • Pride and Prejudice to name a few.

Silbury Hill

This is the largest man made object in prehistoric Europe.

It was built 4800 years ago and took longer to build than Stonehenge. Silbury Hill compares in height and volume to the roughly contemporary Egyptian pyramids. Its purpose is still one of the great unsolved mysteries although theory and speculation abound!

Avebury Stone Circles

This stone circle is 16 times larger  than Stonehenge & 1000 years older. You can walk freely in and amongst the magnificent  stones. It has a magical charm as it is not commercialised.

Try your hand at dowsing here. Pretty thatched cottages have grown up around the stones including a 17th century thatched pub.

Enjoy a guided walk amongst the stones or feel free to explore on your own!

Cherhill White Horse

Cherhill white horse is nearly 300 years old.

This beautiful white horse at Cherhill is one of 13 in Wiltshire. Carved out of the chalk hills they appear dramatic against the rich green landscape.

They are best viewed and most photogenic when seen from a short distance.

Bibury & Arlington Row

Considered the most beautiful village in England by William Morris, leading arts and crats designer.

See Cotswold architecture at its best at the picturesque Arlington Row, built in the 14th century.

Wander through the water meadows locally known as Rack Isle, where the woven Cotswold cloth would have been laid out to dry.

Time to wander around this pretty village with its 17th century thatched pub.

Leaving Bibury you will travel through the tiny backroads following the river Coln, through some of the most unspoilt English countryside.

In our comfortable minicoach you can see above the hedges and dry stone walls.
