Our guides will introduce you to the history and mystery that has shaped Somerset over hundreds of years. Exploring this beautiful county with our small and personal tour allows you to see so much in one day without the hassle of negotiating narrow country lanes on your own or dealing with public transport.

Our local guides have a wealth of knowledge about the area. They will provide you with plenty of information about the history, culture, theories and legends .

Tour Itinerary

Cheddar Gorge

Our first stop is Cheddar Gorge with it majestic limestone cliffs.  A designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). This is your opportunity to  pause and take in the view of this impressive rock formation.

Glastonbury

Onwards to Glastonbury, where we can walk up the Tor to the ruins of the 14th century church tower. From here there are stunning views right across the Somerset Levels. Alternatively, you can visit the Chalice Well Gardens* at the foot of the Tor, to enjoy the sacred well and beautiful gardens. You will be able to try the healing spring waters as well as local Cheddar cheese and Somerset cider. We then continue into the town itself which has become a honey-pot for interesting and unique shops focusing on the spiritual and the magical. Time to explore the ruins of the famous Glastonbury Abbey** - said to be the last resting place of King Arthur and Lady Guinevere - or sit back and relax in one of the many cafes to soak up the atmosphere.

Please be aware that walking up Glastonbury Tor can be strenuous and will require an appropriate level of fitness as well as suitable clothing and footwear

Wells

We travel on to Wells where there is time to explore this beautiful and historical city. There is the moated Bishops Palace, the stunning cathedral and the oldest continually occupied street in Europe. Don’t miss the clock in the cathedral which is one of the oldest in Europe! At Wells you will have time for lunch at one of the many excellent cafes or pubs.
  
Timing
  • This tour begins at 9.00 am prompt, from the Abbey Hotel, 1 North Parade. BA1 1LF. This is a one-minute walk from the Abbey church.
  • Please aim to arrive at 8.50 am so we can depart on time.
  • We have designed our tours to keep travelling time down to a minimum.
  • The longest stretch in our 16 seater minicoach is 1 hour.
  • Time spent at Cheddar Gorge -  2 photo stops
  • Time spent at Glastonbury  & the Tor 2 hours (approx)
  • Time spent at Wells -  2.5  hours
  • Return time to Bath is 5.30pm
