About Us

We have been running our award-winning small group tours since 1991 - 30 years, where did the time go!

Since the beginning, we've always had small mini-coaches which we believe offer you the friendliest and best possible travelling experience.

You have the advantage of being able to see the countryside beyond the hedges and walls, and still get off the beaten track to explore the back roads.

For extra comfort, we've limited our group size to 15 people.

We are very aware that our tours have an impact on our planet and we genuinely want to try and reduce this and contribute positively to both the planet and the people who are hardest hit by climate change. That's why we support the carbon balance programme that Temwa operates in North Malawi. It's not just about planting trees, but supporting whole communities to build climate resilience. Here's the link to their website.

We carbon balance all the fuel we use in operating the tours as well as make a donation for each person who works for Mad Max Tours. This is equal to the yearly CO2 use of a UK citizen.

Our Customer Reviews

Dear Maddy, My mother Elizabeth Tracy and I took a Mad Max tour with Richard last week (22 July, I think?) to Stonehenge/Avebury/Lacock/ Castle Combe, and I wanted to be sure to write you to let you know what an excellent guide we found Richard to be. (I'd been meaning to do this anyway, but ever since taking a tour in Edinburgh with a dreadful guide, I've realized doubly how great Richard was). He told us interesting things, talked (and was quiet) just the right amount, had a good sense of humor, was pleasant, checked in with all of the guests as to how we were doing and whether we were enjoying ourselves, drove skillfully and safely, and offered us good tips on how to maximize our visit. We were thoroughly pleased with the whole experience, and I have already recommended Mad Max (and Richard) to friends!
I have been on tours throughout the world, and rarely has a company excelled the way the Stonehenge/Cotswolds outing with Mad Max does. The cost point was excellent. The coach was comfortable, clean, and spacious. Our guide was professional, knowledgeable, and engaging. The group size was perfect. The timing was just right.

My adult son and I had a blast.
